It’s hot! Much of the US and Europe has been struggling to stay cool during unprecedented heatwaves, the most deadly weather events. That is one of the many reasons we need to move our world toward electric vehicles, home appliances, and cleaner power such as wind and solar.
Heat pumps can efficiently provide more affordable cooling and heating while helping to reduce air pollution that harms our health and the climate.
We at SF Bay PSR are committed to improving community health, justice, and the climate through electrification. So, how do we do this?
Within our Bay Area electrification movement, our community energy providers are key partners in our efforts to improve air quality through electrification of home appliances. This year we applaud CleanPowerSF on their 10 year anniversary of providing San Franciscans home electrification resources and electricity that is generated mostly from cleaner, renewable wind and solar. We are happy to have been included in their anniversary campaign.
What is Community Choice Energy? Community choice energy programs are administered by local governments with a mission to provide competitive alternatives to for-profit, investor-owned utilities such as PG&E. On top of providing cleaner power, Community Choice programs are a great way to accrue benefits locally — rather than to the shareholders of a monopoly, for-profit utility. Choosing a local power provider is an easy, economical way to reduce your home or business carbon footprint and help create a healthier environment.

SF Bay PSR is also proud to support San Francisco’s Climate Equity Hub and environmental justice community residents with resources to learn about the health benefits of clean air and support to switch to electric appliances. This work is made possible by a grant from the Bay Area Air District. Read more about SF Environment’s betterelectric.org resources!
