Democracy Under Threat: Health, Climate, and Global Security at Risk
As the current administration continues its attacks on science, public health, and democratic institutions—rolling back environmental protections, slashing funding for academic and scientific research, and stoking political division—the health of our patients, communities, and planet is under unprecedented threat. Academic institutions such as UCSF, Stanford, UC Berkeley, etc. are also facing growing pressure and financial strain as federal support dwindles and political interference increases.
In this critical moment, we are convening an evening of insight and action, featuring:
- Tracey Woodruff – Director of UCSF’s Program on Reproductive Health and the Environment; Environmental Research and Translation for Health Center; and the Center to End Corporate Harm
- Norman Solomon – Acclaimed journalist, Executive Director of the Institute for Public Accuracy, and National Director of RootsAction
Together, we’ll explore how to push back against the dismantling of public protections, environmental health research, and advance a vision of a healthier, more just democracy. We will also recognize our Emerging Health-Activist Awardees, spotlighting the next generation of changemakers. Past awardees have included trainees from UCSF, Stanford, Highland Hospital, and UC Berkeley, to name just a few.
