ABOUT SF BAY AREA PSR’S SPEAKERS’ BUREAU

As education is one of the greatest keys to change, SF Bay Area Physicians for Social Responsibility has brought together a diverse group of medical professionals with varied expertise to speak on many of the most pressing national and international issues facing society today. As strong advocates who are committed to making this world a safer and far more peaceful place to live, SF Bay Area Physicians for Social Responsibility members have formed a Speakers’ Bureau to bring our perspective to a wider audience.

Our Speakers’ Bureau consists of a group of dedicated physicians willing to present at grand rounds, meetings, brown bag lunches, schools, churches, or to other communities. We bring a medical perspective to important societal issues such as environmental health, gun violence, nuclear war, nuclear weapons, and nuclear waste.

Our current list of topics include:

  • Medical and Human Rights Consequences of the War in Iraq
  • The Abolition of Nuclear Weapons: The Time is Now
  • Gun Violence
  • Health and Environmental Effects of Nuclear Weapons and Militarism
  • Health Effects of Global Climate Change
  • Health Effects of Persistent Organic Pollutants
  • In Harm’s Way: Toxic Threats to Child Development
  • Sustainable Food Systems and Public Health
  • Sustainable Food Systems and Climate Change: Balanced Menus
  • Climate Change and the Health Care Setting

Our speakers are available to present on the above topics, often complemented by slide shows, video presentations, and written materials. They are available for day and evening appearances. We present an educational, enlightening, thoughtful, and provocative program that can be tailored to different audiences.
